We are hiring a Retail Stylist!

We are looking for the perfect addition to our busy team in our Portland, Maine retail location. This is a part-time Retail Stylist position (up to 32 hours per week) with room to grow. A Zane Stylist contributes to driving sales through providing a genuine and unique experience to each customer.

Zane is a woman-owned and -operated boutique with an expertise in denim and a belief that everyday wear should be both experimental and effortless. Our mission is to curate elevated wardrobe essentials.

Our wardrobes are founded on a base of jeans and tees but we love trying new things. Our style is always evolving with the times, the trends, and our personal lives. We fall back on well-made basics that make us feel good when getting dressed feels hard. We’re classic and eclectic at the same time, both utilitarian and elegant, bohemian and bold. We probably dress up too much for the grocery store and has an entire collection of “fancy” sweatshirts. We leave room for innovation and inspiration, but always come back to the basics.

Since 2005, Zane has offered a selection of contemporary ready-to-wear labels and emerging designers from around the world. Across our range of clothing, accessories, homeware and apothecary goods, we are careful to select products that bring both function and form to your lifestyle.

Our brick-and-mortar shop can be found in Portland, Maine’s Old Port neighborhood, but we provide a personalized shopping experience no matter where you are located.

What does a Zane Retail Stylist do?

  • Initiates genuine conversation to engage with the customer in a personalized way where all customers feel welcome, heard and valued
  • Supports a selling environment in all areas of the sales floor by connecting with multiple customers and sharing product suggestions
  • Provides a frictionless customer experience by utilizing technology to transact in the moment, find sizes and colors, and place orders for items not available in store
  • Builds productive relationships with peers; asks for support when needed and makes an effort to help others
  • Participates in the learning and sharing of product knowledge, current trends, and personal styling priorities to inspire the customer
  • Contributes to a positive team morale
  • Provides insights related to the customer and employee experience and communicates feedback to management
  • Understands their contribution to service and selling on every shift in order to impact the store’s business
  • Supports the shipment process to gain awareness of product, including what’s new and what’s restock; maintaining stock levels of the floor
  • Maintains Zane’s visual and operational standards while keeping the focus on the customer; stays current on merchandising updates

Compensation + Benefits

Salary dependent on experience but starts at $20/hour
